TRACK & FIELD

Woodmen win three-way

Greenwood’s boys and girls defeated Indian Creek and Monrovia on Tuesday. The Woodmen boys swept all three relays and got individual first-place efforts from William Riley (100 meters), Josh Carroll (110 hurdles), Henry Barrett (400), Dominik Williams (300 hurdles), Brayden Hafen (pole vault), Jeremiah Carter (long jump), Alex Kramer (shot put) and Ajay Weathers (discus). For the girls, Lilly Rollings (1,600 and 3,200 meters) and Emma Gardner (discus and shot) were double winners, while Kylie Sommers (100 hurdles), Makena Cruse (400), Lucy Galbraith (800), Maddison Judge (high jump) and the 4×800 relay were also first.

Henry Fleetwood (1,600), Grant Dalton (200), Noah Greenwood (3,200) and Logan Jackson (high jump) were winners for Indian Creek’s boys, while Maddie Rummel won the girls 300 hurdles.

Grizzly Cubs sweep Artesians

Host Franklin took both halves of its dual meet with Martinsville, with the girls taking a 71-41 victory and the boys pulling out a 61-57 win. Addie Martin set a new school record in the girls pole vault, clearing 12 feet, and also took first in the high jump. The Grizzly Cub girls also got wins from Casey Macharia in both hurdles races, Sami Frazier in the 100 meters, Kathleen Lacy in the 1,600, Gracie Price in the shot put, Taylor Trueblood in the discus and the 4×100 relay team. The boys took the 4×100 and 4×400 relays and got individual victories from Alex Leugers (100 and 200), Kellen Shaff (300 hurdles), Brooks Huddleston (800), Cory Fuller (pole vault) and Cooper Wienhorst (long jump).

BASEBALL

Warriors hold off Quakers

Blake Riddle hit for the cycle and drove in six runs, and Whiteland scored 10 runs over the first three innings and held on for a 12-10 home win over Plainfield on Tuesday. Kayden Wilson was 3 for 3 for the Warriors (4-1, 3-0 Mid-State), while Maalik Perkins matched Riddle with three runs scored.

Lancers suffer home loss

Edinburgh was defeated by Indy Genesis, 18-1. Mason Myers drove in Brayden Schoettmer with the lone run for the Lancers (0-5).

SOFTBALL

Franklin tops Perry Meridian

Bryleigh Carlisle-Haltom pitched a complete game, allowing no earned runs, as Franklin earned a 13-4 home win over Perry Meridian on Tuesday. Adeline Blackwell went 4 for 4 with three runs scored for the Grizzly Cubs (3-2, 1-2 Mid-State), while Aubrey Leugers and Madynn Grant had three hits apiece with Leugers driving in three runs.

Braves edge Golden Arrows

Amelia Woodke had a double, a triple and five RBIs to help Indian Creek pull out a 9-7 victory at Sullivan. Winning pitcher Delaney Jones drove in two runs and Kristen Soots scored three for the Braves (4-2, 1-0 WIC).

Edinburgh dominates Eagles

Kenna Streeval homered and drove in four runs as Edinburgh shut out Mooresville Christian, 14-0. Shyla Watt added two doubles and three RBIs for the Lancers (4-3), while Chloe Hancock combined with Streeval on a five-inning no-hitter.

GIRLS TENNIS

Greenwood blanks Martinsville

Greenwood was a 5-0 winner over Martinsville on Tuesday. Kate Boyce, Lola Trent and Annika Shaffer took their singles matches in straight sets for the Woodmen, while both doubles teams (Mia Shaffer and Moriah Ellington at No. 1, Paige Glynn and Atley Jacks at No. 2) were 6-0, 6-0 winners.

Cougars sweep Arsenal Tech

Greenwood Christian improved to 2-1 on the season with a 5-0 victory over Arsenal Tech. Brooke Potter, Izzy Snell and Yung Dumdaw dropped a total of four games in sweeping the singles points, Ana Blow and Hope Schmidt won 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles and the No. 2 tandem of Brenna Noble and Adilyn Walker was a 6-1, 6-1 winner.

Creek routs Brown County

Reese Tunell’s 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 comeback win at first singles allowed Indian Creek to finish off a 5-0 win at Brown County. Lilly Swanson and Gracie Werden were also singles winners for the Braves (2-1), Alaina Perry and Alexa Sichting picked up a point at No. 1 doubles and the duo of Rhiannon Cravens and Eliza Tharpe won in the No. 2 spot.

Trojans thump Royals

Center Grove blanked Roncalli, 5-0, winning four of the five without dropping a game. Sloane Small, Kenna Harbin and Val Arriz breezed to singles victories for the Trojans, Ashley Embrey and Paisley Carter won at first doubles and Maggie Teed and Kensley Walker cruised at No. 2 doubles.

BOYS GOLF

Whiteland manages split

Led by a 39 from Will Smith, Whiteland came out even in its three-way match on Tuesday, falling to New Palestine but edging Greenfield-Central by a 175-176 margin.

FISHING

Walleye Challenge open to locals

Anglers across the area are invited to take part in the 2025 Midwest Walleye Challenge, a virtual tournament that offers the chance to win prizes while providing Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) fisheries biologists with valuable data on the state’s walleye, sauger and saugeye populations.

The tournament, which has a $25 entry fee, started on April 1 and ends June 29. Only catches of walleye, sauger, and saugeye count toward the scoring. There are biweekly cash prizes and a grand prize at the conclusion of the event.

Women’s lax wins in double OT

Abby Moore netted the tying goal in the final seconds of regulation and Addie Whitman added the winner in double overtime as Franklin College earned its first victory of the season by edging Division II Ursuline, 11-10, on Monday. Whitman had five goals and Moore four for the Grizzlies (1-6).
